The Nevada State Board of Nursing and federal law require CNA classes in Nevada to feature a minimum of 75 hours of instruction with at least 16 hours dedicated to clinical training. For the typical full-time student, these class hours can usually be finished over a period of 8 to 13 weeks. Admission to accredited programs in the state requires a high school diploma or GED, proof of a clean TB check in the last 6 months and being at least 18 years old as of the applicant’s most-recent birth day.
At the conclusion of an accredited training program, students have 24 months in which to pass the NNAAP exam. A CNA candidate must pass both halves of this exam (skills demonstration and multiple-choice) in order to receive a passing score, and will be required to repeat all previous training if he or she fails to pass the exam in the allotted time frame. Securing employment as a CNA additionally requires the person to be registered with the Nevada Nurse Aide Registry.
Accredited CNA classes in Nevada are offered throughout the state from Las Vegas to Reno.
